Furniture Industry Research Association
FIRA International and the Furniture Industry Research Association have very close ties, and share a history dating back to 1949.
The Furniture Industry Research Association is the UK's largest furniture association and the only organisation that provides support to the whole furniture supply chain, across all sectors. They are a unique, not-for-profit membership-based organisation, run by the furniture industry for the furniture industry.
FIRA International are the service provider to the Research Association. Our experts undertake all projects and research on their behalf, and attend standards meetings to ensure that the voice of members and wider furniture industry is heard.
Recent projects our experts have undertaken on behalf of the Research Association include:
- On-demand training concerning domestic and contract flammability regulations; biocidal regulations; Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulations; and the EU Timber Regulation
- Alternative packaging options for furniture
- A guide to the new UKCA mark
- Research into perceived comfort based on pressure mapping
Members of the Furniture Industry Research Association are eligible to work towards FIRA Gold certification, benefit from preferential testing and training rates and full members receive ‘voucher credits’ which can be redeemed against FIRA International services.
