WEBINAR: Flammability regulations and testing for furniture (domestic, contract and beds / mattresses)
25 May 2022
10:00 - 11:00
Join Howard James, Testing and Technical Manager, and Steve Cotton, Technical Specialist - Flammability and Physical Upholstery at FIRA International for their next flammability focused webinar.
The agenda will include:
- UKAS Accredited testing to the Irish Regulations S.I. No. 316/1995 - Industrial Research and Standards (Fire Safety) (Domestic Furniture) Order, 1995. This is key following the U-Turn by the Irish Government post-Brexit to no longer recognise the UK The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 as an equivalent regulation for compliance
- The ‘Cal Regs’ – California TB 117-2013 Requirements, Test Procedure and Apparatus for Testing the Smolder Resistance of Materials Used in Upholstered Furniture. Your chance to see a Cal Reg test, understand more about the regulation and how it can assist in exporting to USA
- ‘New Approach …to the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations’ – the latest updates on proposed revision to The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988
Howard and Steve will then move onto the well-established ‘ask the experts’ session. This format allows you to (anonymously) ask flammability questions pertinent to their role your organisation. In previous sessions anything and everything has asked, covering all facets of testing and compliance. FIRA International welcome this approach as regulations can be difficult to interpret and our experts aim to support the industry, and support with compliance.
FIRA International gain UKAS-Accreditation to Irish Flammability Regulations
Although there are some similarities between the UK FFFSR and S.I. No. 316/1995, the match testing process is different
